Lessons From the Wizard of Oz

!±8± Lessons From the Wizard of Oz

It often amazes me that the big lessons in life have been there in front of me all along. My close friends and family know that one of my favorite movies as a child (and adult too) is The Wizard of Oz.

Looking back now I see all the precious gems author L. Frank Baum peppered through his immortal story. For example, do you remember the part where Dorothy first crash landed in the Munchkin village and first donned the ruby slippers?  But it wasn't't until the very end that she realized that she  had the power to return back home to Kansas all along.

At first glance it seems that Dorothy could have avoided the whole yellow brick road thing. She could have bypassed the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion and Wizard and, the whole trek to recover the broomstick. I mean that she had the power to go home all along, from the very beginning, right? Well, It is absolutely true that she had the power all along, but, it is equally true that she had to make a journey before coming to the knowledge, acceptance and belief in the true power she possessed before she could actually use it.

Isn't't that sort of the way it is with us? We are born with an awesome power to accomplish most anything we want but somehow it is hidden from us. But our power is there with us all along just like Dorothy's ruby slippers. Some seem to discover this early in life , some late and some, unfortunately, never. But your power is present and available for immediate use if you'll only make the journey to  find that it has been there all along.

I like to think of life as an illusion, a  sort of board game in which we are challenged to find our hidden power, purpose and infinite possibilities. And it can be fun and exciting to play "the game of life" and ultimately find the hidden power you possess to accomplish the amazing possibilities of your life.

May I challenge you today to look for the awesome hidden power present in your life.  It is most assuredly there. You have not been shortchanged! Sometimes what you're looking for may be found at your own two feet.
